Bali calendar for remote workers

The days that change a working week in Bali: Nyepi, when the island goes offline for 24 hours; national holidays, when offices, banks and immigration close; and the Balinese holy days, when staff take leave and ceremonies fill the roads. Each with what it means for you, and a feed you can add to your own calendar.

The best time to be in Bali for remote work

Dry weather without the peak crowds: May and June, and October. July to September is the peak, and so are Christmas and New Year, with the highest prices of the year. The wet season, roughly November to March, is the quietest, with rain most afternoons.

Questions

When is Nyepi 2027?

Monday 8 March 2027, 06:00 to 06:00 the next day. It runs straight into Idul Fitri on 10 and 11 March; with three cuti bersama days and two weekends, that's ten days in a row off, 6 to 15 March 2027.

Is the internet off on Nyepi?

Mobile data has been switched off across Bali every Nyepi since 2024. Home and villa Wi-Fi stayed on each year.

When is the next Galungan?

Wednesday 13 January 2027, with Kuningan ten days later on Saturday 23 January 2027.

Is immigration open on public holidays?

No: immigration offices close on national holidays and cuti bersama days. In 2026 they closed for the whole week of Nyepi and Idul Fitri, 18 to 24 March, while the airport and border crossings stayed open. Plan visa extensions around them.

When is the rainy season in Bali?

Roughly November to March, with the heaviest rain in January and February. The dry season runs roughly April to October. For 2026, BMKG expects the rains late, from late November in parts of Bali and December in most.

When is the best time to live and work in Bali?

Where the dates come from

National holidays and cuti bersama from the joint ministerial decree; Idul Fitri and Idul Adha can still move by a day after the moon sighting. Galungan, Kuningan, Saraswati and Pagerwesi from the 210-day Balinese cycle, checked against a Balinese calendar. We update the list each September, when the next year's decree is signed.

On the days the island stops, you work from home

On Nyepi nobody leaves the house, and around Galungan and Lebaran the cafés and coworking spaces run short-staffed or close. The calendar tells you when. The part that's ours is a setup at home that doesn't mind.
