MindSeat vs monis.rent: what you actually get for the money
Checked 15 September 2026 against monis.rent's own product pages, terms and help desk. We date this page and re-check it.
There are two companies renting work equipment to remote workers across Bali at any scale: monis.rent and us. They list lower prices. That is true, and we are not going to pretend otherwise.
What this page is about is the part the sticker does not show: what the equipment actually is, what appears at checkout on top of the rental, and who pays when something breaks. Those three things are where the difference between us sits, and they are the reason our price is what it is.
First, a correction
Their comparison page says you cannot rent a single item from MindSeat. That is wrong, and it has been wrong the whole time. Every item we own rents on its own, by the week or the month:
| Monthly | Weekly | |
|---|---|---|
| 24" FHD monitor | $40 | $16 |
| 27" QHD monitor | $110 | $44 |
| 32" 4K monitor | $160 | $64 |
| Height-adjustable desk | $50 | $20 |
| Ergonomic chair | $70 | $28 |
| Laptop stand, webcam, keyboard and mouse, trackpad | from $15 | from $6 |
Packages exist because they cost less than the sum of their parts, not because they are the only way in. If your villa already has a desk you like, rent the monitor. Their page also lists three of our four packages and leaves out The Best.
The equipment is not the same class
This is the real difference, and it is checkable on both sites.

| Desk | Fantech, a gaming-peripherals brand. Particleboard top, 80 kg load limit, sizes from 110 × 60 cm | Solid steel legs, 140 × 60 cm top, 73–118 cm, extension cord included |
| Chair | Fantech OCA259PRO. Mesh back, foam seat | Full mesh, adjustable arms, headrest, lumbar, height and tilt |
| Entry monitor | Xiaomi Mi 1C, 24", 250 nits. HDMI 1.4 and VGA only — no USB-C. No height adjustment and no VESA mount in the spec | 24" IPS, sRGB 102%, ships with power cable, HDMI and a USB-C dongle for MacBooks |
| Mid monitor | Xiaomi Redmi A27U, 27" 4K, USB-C. No stand adjustment in the spec | 27" QHD IPS, sRGB 104%, USB-C with Power Delivery, USB3 hub, height-adjusting stand that flips to portrait |
| Monitor brands | 10 of 13 are Xiaomi or Redmi; one LG, one BenQ, one Apple | Chosen per size for panel and stand, not for price |
Two details worth pausing on. Their cheapest monitor has no USB-C at all, so a MacBook needs an adapter and a separate charger, and the stand does not move, so the screen sits where the box put it. And their standing desk has a particleboard top rated to 80 kg. Ours is steel-legged with a 140 cm top, because it has to survive being moved between villas.
If you are renting for a week and any screen will do, none of this matters. If you are going to work at it eight hours a day for three months, it is the whole thing.
What the price does not include
Everything in this column is included with us at no extra charge. At monis.rent each one is a separate line, and none of them appear on their comparison page.

|---|---|---|
| Delivery | Next-day as standard. A logistics fee by distance and weight is added at checkout — their Bali configuration is a $9.80 minimum plus $0.55/km. Same-day only for items flagged "Instant" | Free same-day in Canggu, Seminyak, Kuta, Ubud and Uluwatu on orders from Rp 700,000. Usually within hours |
| Setup | An optional paid add-on, $5–10 per item. Without it the box is left at your door | Included. We assemble the desk, connect the screen and set your heights |
| Deposit | Required on larger orders, topped up 24 h before delivery, refunded 5–10 business days after inspection. Their help desk caps it at $120; another page says $60 | None |
| Moving villa | A moving fee applies, shown in the app. Free only if you move it yourself | One free move a month. Our driver does it |
| If something breaks | "All damages or losses, except for inherent manufacturer defects, are the Customer's responsibility." Replacement is billed at the manufacturer's list price, charged to your card. Faults must be reported within 24 hours of delivery | Replaced free, unless the damage was intentional misuse or neglect |
| Changing your mind | Paid upfront. Refund to card minus a processing fee, or a one-use voucher. Started periods are not refunded | Nothing is charged until we confirm on WhatsApp, so there is nothing to claw back |
| Failed delivery | $20, plus the fee for the next attempt | We call you |
| Getting it collected | Not same-day. Must be booked at least a day before you leave | Message us the day before |
Their published terms do not agree with each other on some of this. The refund fee appears as 15% on one page, 10% in the terms and conditions and 5% on another. The deposit cap is $120 on the help desk and about $60 on the Bali page. One page says all orders are paid upfront; another says you pay only the delivery fee upfront. We are not making a point about their honesty, we are pointing out that you should read the page you are actually buying from.
Can you get it on the day you need it?
Availability is the part no comparison table shows. On 17 September 2026, checked on their own site: their 27" 4K+ grading monitor, their 32" LG ergonomic monitor, the 34-inch models and their flagship dual-motor standing desk all showed as unavailable for that delivery date. Four of the eight monitors in their own comparison table could not be booked that day.
We keep a smaller range on purpose, which is how we can say yes to same-day. If we cannot deliver something today, a person tells you so on WhatsApp before you order, rather than a date picker refusing you after you have chosen.
About those weekly prices
One thing to know when comparing, because it is easy to misread on their site and their comparison page repeats it.
The "$6/week" style figure they show by default is the monthly plan divided by four, not the price of renting for a week. Their true weekly rate is higher: the chair is $6/week on the monthly plan and $9/week if you actually rent it for a week. Their own comparison page builds a "$24/week full setup" out of those monthly-derived numbers and compares it to our weekly price. Like for like on a genuine weekly rental, their desk, chair and 27" monitor come to about $35/week.
The same page advertises a "$5/week" desk. That rate belongs to a parent listing you cannot book; the cheapest desk you can actually put in a cart is $6/week on the monthly plan.
They are still cheaper. We just think you should compare the same thing.
So why do we cost more?
Because of everything above, and because we decided to be the option that works rather than the option that is cheapest.
The equipment is a class up and chosen for long days. Delivery, setup, collection and one villa move a month are inside the price rather than added at checkout. There is no deposit sitting on your card. If a monitor dies in the rainy season we replace it rather than invoice you for it. And every order is confirmed by a person on WhatsApp who can tell you what is actually in the warehouse today.
That is a real cost, and it is in our price. If the lowest weekly number is what matters for your stay, you already know where to go. If you want to open the laptop on Monday and not think about any of this again, that is us.
300+ reviews on our Google profile. monis.rent has 4.5 from 50 on Trustpilot, 13 of them in the last year.
Questions people actually ask
Can I rent just a monitor from MindSeat, without a package?
Yes. Every item rents on its own, weekly or monthly. Packages are a discount, not a requirement. If you read otherwise, it was on somebody else's website.
Is monis.rent cheaper?
On the sticker, yes. Once delivery, the deposit, optional setup and a villa move are counted, the gap narrows a lot. On equipment class and on who pays for damage, we think the comparison goes the other way.
Do you charge a deposit?
No. monis.rent holds one on larger orders, up to $120 according to their help desk, returned 5 to 10 business days after the item is inspected (checked 15 September 2026).
Who delivers faster?
We deliver the same day, free, in Canggu, Seminyak, Kuta, Ubud and Uluwatu. Their published standard is next day, with a logistics fee, and same day only on selected items.
What happens if something breaks?
We replace it free unless the damage was intentional misuse or neglect. Their terms make damage the customer's responsibility except for manufacturer defects, billed at the manufacturer's list price.
What if I move villa?
One free move a month, our driver does it. Their help desk says a moving fee applies unless you move the equipment yourself.
Can I rent a Mac, a PS5 or a coffee machine?
Not from us. They rent all of that. We rent monitors, desks, chairs and work accessories, and nothing else.
