Echo Beach, for experienced surfers by day and seafood at sunset
Pantai Batu Mejan, signposted Echo Beach, has three breaks for experienced surfers and sunset dinners on the low cliff above them.
Echo Beach is at the end of Jalan Pantai Batu Mejan, the next beach along from Batu Bolong. Its Indonesian name, Pantai Batu Mejan, comes from the sea temple on the low cliff above the surf, where there are cafés too. Board rentals, ding repairs and scooter parking are at the gate, restaurants with sunset barbecues line the paved lane to the left, and the beach clubs are La Brisa and COMO Beach Club.
The waves are for experienced surfers. The Rivermouth is a right-hand wedge over a rock shelf, the Sandbar a steep left over sand, and Echo Beach Left a fast wave over a shallow reef. It isn't a beach for easy swimming, especially with children, and beginners learn next door at Batu Bolong.
