At the southern end of the Bukit, Ungasan has a busy village of warungs in the middle, resorts on its clifftops and Melasti, the beach you can drive down to.
Ungasan takes in Melasti and the Nusa Dua side. Inland, along Jalan Raya Uluwatu and Jalan Toya Ning, it's quieter and more residential than Uluwatu proper, and people who work from home base themselves here. The clifftop edges have ocean views and luxury resorts, among them Karma Kandara and the Ungasan Clifftop Resort, home of Sundays Beach Club.
Most Bukit beaches are down cliff stairs, but at Melasti, Bali's southernmost beach, a winding road cut through the rock takes you down to free bathrooms and changing rooms, showers, parking, warungs and beach clubs such as White Rock. It isn't a surf beach, and a Kecak dance plays at sunset on the open-air stage.
